The Left and Right Essay Debate

Here’s the catch about Brazil’s High School National Exam: one might think that knowing all the formulas and the organs of the human body will get you there. But in fact, understanding what is happening to Brazil and to the world right now plays a bigger role. To give some context to our students, we promoted a debate between Marcelo Freixo, left wing congressman, and Flavio Bolsonaro, far-right senator, when they both were running for Rio mayoral elections. The debate was mediated by the Language and Essay composition teacher and students could vote live using Facebook reactions and ask questions.
